Fire hazard behind static electricity [1]
Where does static electricity come from?
Under normal circumstances, objects carry the same amount of positive and negative charges. That is, positive and negative charges are in a state of balance.
This is why we don’t feel the existence of electricity when we touch various objects at ordinary times.
But after rubbing, these charges originally carried on the object will be transferred. The end result is that some objects will have more positive charges, while others will have more negative charges.
In order to return to balance, an object that has lost electrons will attack other objects and human bodies around it again and snatch those electrons that it lacks.
This process produces what we know as static electricity.

Another question is, why is static electricity more common in autumn and winter?
This is because the transfer of charge needs to be completed by means of water vapor or skin contact. In autumn and winter, both environmental humidity and skin humidity will be lower.
This change will make it more difficult to release the generated static electricity, which will lead to all kinds of embarrassment that we often see.
static electricity
It is also a "distress signal" from the skin.
In fact, if static electricity comes to you frequently, it is likely that your skin has been dehydrated for a long time.
And if you don’t recognize the "distress signal" of the skin, take correct hydration measures in time, or even let it go, then it may not only be static electricity, but also itching, dandruff, chapped and other symptoms of water shortage.

Come and see, do you have all these behaviors in life that may accelerate skin dehydration?
1. The daily drinking water is not enough
Water participates in many metabolic processes in the human body. If you don’t drink enough water, the maintenance of many human functions will be affected, and skin is no exception.
According to the Dietary Guidelines for China Residents (2016 edition), adults should drink at least 1500ml of water every day [2]. Have you had enough water today?
2. Irregular work and rest/staying up late
Irregular work and rest can also cause skin dehydration.
This is because irregular work and rest will cause the levels of adrenaline and hormones in the body to fluctuate [3], which will increase the free radicals in the skin [4]. Free radicals can directly destroy collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin, cause skin barrier damage, induce skin aging, and make our skin dry and rough [4].
3. Bathing too often, the water temperature is too high
After busy work every day, it goes without saying how happy you are to take a hot bath.
But you know what? Frequent bathing will also accelerate the loss of water.
This is because, in the process of taking a bath, the oil on our skin is also taken away. It is recommended that you control the frequency of bathing to 2 ~ 3 times a week.
Of course, if it is hot summer or sweating a lot, it is ok to take a bath once a day [5].
Also, try to apply body lotion immediately after taking a shower.

In addition, there are two small Tips:
First, try to gently scrub with hands or cotton towels instead of rubbing hard, which can also reduce the damage to the stratum corneum.
Second, the temperature of the bath water should not be too high. Excessive water temperature is also a "sebum killer", which may lead to skin barrier damage, resulting in dry skin and desquamation.
It is suggested that the bath water temperature should be controlled to be close to the skin temperature (34 ~ 40 degrees), that is, it will not feel "hot". Specifically, you can adjust according to your age and season.
4. Improper selection of skin care products
A friend asked, why is it still dry when you are diligent in skin care? This may be that your choice of skin care products is not suitable for you.
Everyone’s skin type is different. If you don’t choose a suitable moisturizer according to your skin dryness and oil, your skin will also fall into a state of water shortage.
The distinction between different skin types can be simply judged by whether the skin is tight before and after washing your face.
You can also check the following table:
Comparison of different skin characteristics [6]
There are thousands of ways to moisturize, and it is most important to suit yourself.
How to choose moisturizer for different skin types? No suspense, look here.
Recommended moisturizers for different skin types [7]
As for moisturizing ingredients, we recommend these four kinds: squalene/squalane, ceramide, tocopherol (vitamin E) and glycerol, which are suitable for all skin types.
1. squalene/squalane-an all-around player in repairing and moisturizing
Squalene is one of the components of sebum, which can moisturize and protect the skin. However, squalene is easy to be oxidized and difficult to store because of its poor stability. Therefore, the more stable squalane is usually added to skin care products. It can also play a similar role in repairing and moisturizing as squalene.
In autumn and winter, sebum secretion will decrease, but you can choose a moisturizer containing squalane to supplement the reduced sebum. It can form an artificial sebum film on the skin surface and effectively repair the dehydrated and dry epidermis.

2. ceramide-repairing skin barrier
In addition to the sebum on the skin surface, the intercellular lipid that wraps the skin cells also effectively blocks the water loss in the skin; More than half of the intercellular lipid weight is ceramide. Therefore, ceramide supplementation can also moisturize and repair the skin barrier.

3. Tocopherol (vitamin E)-anti-inflammatory, scavenging free radicals
Different from the first two, tocopherol (vitamin E) not only can scavenge oxygen free radicals, but also has anti-inflammatory effect, which can effectively prevent external environmental factors from damaging collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin.
4. Glycerol-Moisturizing
Glycerol is a hygroscopic component, that is, it can absorb water from the environment and replenish the water lost in the stratum corneum.

In addition, because it is to be directly applied to the skin, safety and gentleness must also be considered. You can see if you have passed a professional gentleness test, if you have a corresponding certification report, and so on.
On this basis, choose a moisturizer that suits you.
